Patrick Wolf is set to play a one-off gig at the London Palladium on November 15 - thanks to some advice from an Oscar-winning actress.

The south London singer chose the unusual location after a chance meeting with'Sister Act' actress Whoopi Goldberg in the US.

"I was in New York at a photo shoot, still undecided about which venue to play my ultimate fantasy show for this album," Wolf explained in a statement.

"It was between the London Palladium and the Theatre Royal, so I sit down for a burrito in the studio cafe and from behind me in walks Whoopi Goldberg and gives me a hug! Seeing as the Palladium was the chosen venue for her latest 'Sister Act', I thought it pretty obvious what the stars were telling me."

The gig will see Wolf showcase his latest album 'The Bachelor', as well as playing music from his back catalogue. He is set to be joined onstage by a live string section and gospel choir.

Tickets for the gig go on general sale on July 31 at 9am (BST), though subscribers to Patrickwolf.com can buy them from July 29.
