Patrick Wolf apologises for hurling equipment at German festival

A public apology to all involved in the C/O Pop shenanigans

Patrick Wolf has apologised for his behaviour at the C/O Pop event in Cologne - when he spat, hurled equipment and launched into a tirade of expletives on stage after his set was cut short.

Watch footage of the incident, which took place last week (August 13), by scrolling down and clicking on the video below.

Writing on his blog at Myspace.com/officialpatrickwolf, the flamboyant multi-instrumentalist said sorry "to all involved" in the incident – although he claimed he was not attempting to attack one specific staff member, despite his repeated use of the words "motherfucker" and "bitch" during his tirade.

"I was throwing the stool and the microphone at a black hole part of the stage where no one would get hurt but there would be a statement made," he claimed. "The spit did not land on anyone but was in general a display of, 'I don't respect you'.

"The words 'bitch' and 'motherfucker' really are not misogynistic words when you live near Soho, London, so let's put that to rest. My tribe will know that I have over the past 10 years been a public champion for feminism, against ignorance and always fighting in the name of the good fight."

He added: "The display of aggression was directed at nobody in particular, just life and darkness and hard times. I'm sorry if any people got in the way, and I hope you can forgive me for causing any damage due to excess negative personal emotion."

Wolf is set to play the Reading And Leeds Festivals, which take place on August 28-30.

It would have been easier to have just said "Sorry for my being a tosser, I was having a hissy fit because I was getting my way". If you run late you run the risk of having your set cut short, it's happened to far bigger acts and they've always found a creative way to get through it (see NOFX or The Wildhearts). This was just ...lame.

As much as I like Patrick Wolf's first 2 albums the Magic Position was average and Batcholer is worse. His outburst was bad mannered and his "apology" is lame.
