Patti Smith to release album with My Bloody Valentine
Singer/poet teams up with Kevin Shields
Patti Smith is to release an album with My Bloody Valentine's Kevin Shields.
The star's spoken-word performances of 'The Coral Sea' in London, which took place in June 2005 and September 2006, will be released on CD on July 10.
The recordings feature guitar backing by Shields, reports Billboard.
The double-disc set will be made up of Smith's verbal tribute to the late photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. 'The Coral Sea' is also the title of a 1996 Smith book of prose and poetry.
Smith and Shields both participated in the preparation of 'The Coral Sea', but it is unknown if they plan to stage it again at some point.
