Paul Heaton is to celebrate his 50th birthday by embarking on a bicycle tour of the UK and Ireland.

The former Beautiful South and Housemartins star will be peddling 2500 miles – 50 miles for each year he's been on the planet across a selection of pubs.

Heaton's mammoth journey will span 40 days and take in 33 shows. It will kick off at his Kings Arms pub in Salford on May 15 before wrapping up in London on June 23.
