Paul McCartney is set to release a new classical album ’Ecce Cor Meum’ on September 25.

The album will be the former Beatles singer's first new material since 2005’s ’Chaos and Creation in the Backyard’ and his fourth classical release since 1991’s ’The Liverpool Oratorio’.

’Ecce Cor Meum’ is scored for a choir and orchestra with lyrics in both English and Latin.

It was recorded at Abbey Road studios in London and features The Boys of Magdalen College Choir Oxford and The Boys of King’s College Choir, Cambridge, amongst other classical artists.

It was commissioned by Oxford University college Magdalen’s former president Anthony Smith who hoped McCartney would create "a choral piece which could be sung by young people the world over in the same way Handel’s Messiah is.”

The piece was first performed in 2001 by the Magdalen College Choir and was conducted by Bill Ives at the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford, Billboard reports.
