Macca and Morrissey to slug it out for British Icon title

Duo are on heavyweight shortlist

Veteran British music stars Sir Paul McCartney and Morrissey will go head to head for the title of Britain’s greatest living icon.

The former Beatle and ex Smiths leader are joined by broadcasting legend Sir David Attenborough on a three name shortlist drawn up by the BBC's Culture Show. The winner will be decided by public vote on December 16 by public vote.

A longer list had already seen names including David Bowie and Michael Caine pushed aside.
