Sir Paul McCartney has heart operation
The ex-Beatles legend undergoes coronary angioplasty
Sir Paul McCartney had a heart operation over the festive period, and has made a full recovery.
The ex-Beatles star visited a doctor in Harley Street after feeling unwell, after which the decision was made to operate.
The legend had a coronary angioplasty. The procedure is known among GPs as a good way of treating angina, and around 40,000 such procedures are undertaken in the UK each year.
The procedure involves passing a fine tube into the body through the groin, then up into the aorta of the heart. The process allows blood to flow freely and squashes fatty deposits.
The Sun newspaper quote a source as saying: "It was all very routine, but any work on your heart is a big deal."
