Members of Bloc Party, The Kills and New Young Pony Club are in the running for the World's Sexiest Vegetarian award 2008.

Sir Paul McCartney and Morrissey are also in the running to receive the gong.

The award is organised by Peta2, the youth wing of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals charity. People can cast their vote for the award at the Peta2.com website now.

Notable musical stars in the running for the title beyond the aforementioned duo include Alison Mosshart of The Kills, Russell Lissack of Bloc Party, Igor Volk of New Young Pony Club and Mira Aroyo of Ladytron.

Last year actress Kristen Bell won the Sexiest Female award, while Davey Havok, singer in AFI, won the Sexiest Male award.
