Paul McCartney was forced to cancel the first of two shows in Chile last night after his equipment failed to show up.

The Beatles legend was due to play at the Movistar Arena in Santiago on Tuesday (April 21) but has now rescheduled the date to Wednesday (April 23) after a plane carrying all his gear didn’t arrive on time.

"Though I'm upset that the jumbo jet carrying all my equipment for the show has gone technical and will not arrive in Santiago in time for the show tonight, I will not cancel the concert," McCartney said in a statement. "I would hate to disappoint our great Chilean fans so we are moving the Monday show to Wednesday this week and looking forward to having a rocking time in Santiago."

McCartney's south American tour will continue this month in Uruguay, Peru and will see him play Ecuador and Costa Rica for the first time. The tour will then head to Asia and the US later on in the year.

Back in February, Paul McCartney was at the NME Awards to collect his gong for Songwriter's Songwriter. Watch a video of him collecting his gong below.
