Paul McCartney helps couple propose at New York gig – watch

The Beatles legend brought the couple onstage at his first gig back on tour since falling ill

Paul McCartney made his live comeback in New York this weekend, helping two fans get engaged to each other – watch fan-filmed footage of the moment above.

The singer, who was forced to take almost two months off from his Out There world tour due to a virus, returned to the stage at Times Union Centre in Albany, New York on July 5.

During the three-hour set, he spotted two audience members carrying signs. The woman's said that her boyfriend wouldn’t marry her until he had met McCartney, while the boyfriend's read "I have the ring and I'm 64".

McCartney then brought the couple onstage during his second encore and helped the couple propose to each other. The boyfriend – John – took to the microphone to sign the chorus to The Beatles' 'When I'm 64' before going down on one knee to propose to his partner Claudia, who said "yes" to huge cheers from the crowd.

Yesterday, McCartney unveiled the video for his track 'Early Days' which features Johnny Depp. Director Vincent Haycock conceived the film as an homage to the beginnings of John Lennon and Paul McCartney's relationship, with scenes inspired by his conversations with McCartney. Watch it below.

'Early Days' is taken from McCartney's 16th solo album, 'New', which was released in 2013.
