A new plaque commemorating the fact that Simon wrote 'Homeward Bound' at Widnes station has been unveiled...

A new plaque commemorating the spot where PAUL SIMON wrote his classic 'HOMEWARD BOUND' has been unveiled at WIDNES train station in CHESHIRE.

Simon wrote the tune feeling homesick while waiting for a train on the way back to London during a period spent living in England, in the days before he started working with Art Garfunkel.

Several other plaques have been stolen from the station over the years. Simon himself made a plea for the originals to be returned during his most recent tour of the UK.

The new plaque was produced and funded by media students at Warrington Collegiate Institute. "The plaque has returned to its spiritual home," their lecturer Stephen Wainwright said.
