Paul Weller has overtaken The xx to become favourite to win the Barclaycard Mercury Prize tomorrow (September 7).

When the Mercury Prize nominations list was revealed in July, bookmakers William Hill immediately had The xx's self-titled album as 4/1 favourite alongside Dizzee Rascal's 'Tongue N' Cheek'. However, today odds for The xx are at 7/4 while Weller's album 'Wake Up The Nation' is strong favourite at 1/10.

Wild Beasts are third favourites with their album 'Two Dancers', while Laura Marling's 'I Speak Because I Can' is fourth, with odds at 12/1.

Mumford and Sons' 'Sigh No More' has odds of 14/1, I Am Kloot are at 20/1 with 'Sky At Night' while Foals, Villagers and Biffy Clyro's albums all have odds of 25/1.

The outsiders are Corinne Bailey Rae (33/1), Dizzee Rascal (40/1) and Kit Downes Trio (50/1).

The Mercury Prize ceremony takes place tomorrow night in London. Learn more about this year's nominees with NME's who's who guide to the 2010 Mercury Music Prize now.
