Green River prepare set for Sub Pop show

Green River have re-learned several old songs in preparation for their forthcoming slot at the Sub Pop 20th anniversary party this weekend in Seattle.

The band was formed by Pearl Jam’s Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard, as well as Mudhoney’s Mark Arm and Steve Turner, with drummer Alex Vincent, and last played together in 1987.

The band have prepared two early songs entitled ‘Baby, Help Me Forget’ and ‘Leech’, bassist Jeff Ament told billboard.com, telling the site "In a weird way, those are probably some of the best songs we have… they're really great pop songs.”

The band got together to rehearse five times since April, working around a schedule that includes the current Pearl Jam tour of North America.

Green River will play a 40-minute set this Sunday at the event, the day after Pearl Jam attend VH1 Rock Honors celebrating the career of The Who, when they will perform a cover of ‘The Real Me’.
