Prison cell pictures of Pete Doherty appear

British newspaper published camera phone pictures

The Sun newspaper has published pictures of Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty in Wormwood Scrubs prison in London.

The newspaper claims that Doherty, incarcerated for on a 14 week sentence after breaching parole last Tuesday (April 9), has been using heroin in jail on top of a methadone programme he is on.

It is claimed that Doherty has been gaining drugs by writing I.O.U. notes to inmates.

The report also says the singer has befriended an inmate named Ray, who has been acting as the singer/guitarist's protector in jail, where he is receiving a lot of attention from both inmates and guards because of his celebrity status.

According to the newspaper a rumour had spread around the prison that Doherty had a stash of drugs, attracting unwanted attention from inmates.

An anonymous source in the prison is quoted as saying: "It wasn’t true but it was enough to make people want to find him and rob him. Ray is making sure this doesn’t happen."

It was the inevitable outcome of sending an addict to prison, where there is supposedly more drugs than anywhere. Its just shows what a disgrace the papers are when they hound him into prison then cant even leave him alone when he is there....a sad reflection on the lengths the tabloid press will go to to sell papers. I just hope the hipocracy that has bequeathed Keith Richards and Ozzy with respect for past excesses will ultimately extend to pete in the end when they see he is a talented fella. Afterall he is not the bloody devil.

Dear me. Obviously a slow news day for the Sun.

If he is on drugs he needs to take a long hard look at himself,he's in there for that reason and he's turning his deserved second album fame into a tabloid newspapers dream. He needs help.

It's a shame - mobile phones are banned in prisons, so it's most likely to be a guard who has taken the picture. (Whereas inmates do posess mobiles illegally, they are only need them to call and send SMS so a modern phone with a camera is mostly not needed.)Of course, there will be an 'internal enquiry' and the culprit will lose his job, but the damage is done. Of course the prisoners are giving him unwanted attention, Pete should be rehabilitating and sticking to his methadone program. It's another example of how low a newspaper The Sun actually is. To quote fictional reporter Rita Skeeter 'Why I could manure the contents of my garden with that rag.'

For god's sake when he's in a coffin will The Sun ask a grave digger to take pics on his mobile??

At the end of the day u send a drug addict to prison he will get more drugs, its not exactly news. It's his own fault that he is in there but I think everyone should wait and see wot he does when he comes out, see how long it takes him to go back inside.

"The guys a druggy......people who give him sympathy need as much help as he does!" That's the kind of low life rubbish that this country doesn't need. You're just a typical rag reader who knows nothing about pete's musical talent. You should be ashamed you bitch.

The sun have always hate a campaign on to get the general public to hate pete with exaggerated and often completely false stories so this was bound to happen. why it made the front page i have no idea, probably had no one to frame as a terrorist this week. I'm not saying he hasn't taken drugs at all in jail because its become quite common knowledge that its easier to get them inside rather than out, but to continue toprint bad stories making him out to be a monster yet again shows how evil The Sun is. I agree with nickjcray, they probably will do that and it will no doubt be a day of celebration for all that work at The Sun

the fact that this made the front page should b enough evidence that the sun is a pile of shit. pete is god!!

feel sorry for Pete, but don't kid yourselves on that the tabloids are to blame for his rise to notoriety...this very magazine has done more to promote Pete and non musical hobbies! and this from the magazine that persecuted Evan Dando for saying he had smoked crack in one of there interviews.....times have changed!!

Why do the papers obsess over him so much? Thousands of prisoners take drugs in jail, maybe they should report on those more interesting figures instead of picking on someone who may or may not be taking drugs!
