Pete Doherty was arrested after an alleged drugs bust on a flight on Friday (June 5).

The singer was detained in Geneva after being found slumped in a bathroom on board a British Airways plane, according to the Sunday Mail.

The newspaper reported a hypodermic needle was found at the scene and wrapped in tissue by airline staff.

The Babyshambles man was fined by police and then allowed him to go free and play at the Neuchatel Open Air festival.

"Swiss police met BA730 from Heathrow to Geneva on Friday and a man was arrested," a British Airways spokesperson told the newspaper.

A Geneva police spokesman told The Sun: "We were contacted by the captain of a BA flight and a passenger was controlled by police. He was charged — but I cannot say what with. He paid a fine and was allowed to go."

Pete Doherty went on to play a gig at Camden Underworld on Saturday (June 6) as part of the Camden Rocks festival.

this is probably wishful thinking but it may have been an anti-addiction injection or something. It's probably not though. I'm just gutted for him cause he seemed to have things together. just bothered about the nobs that are gunna get on his back on here

Do you actually believe that he was arrested for drugs? There are no facts this is insinuation. How would he get a needle on a flight? Unless there was a genuine medical reason for it - airport security is not that lax. And besides, it is most likely a publicity stunt, he sat in the toilet with a needle (most likely for someone he was travelling with's diabetes) and then waited to be found and to get some press he is desperate for, particularly as The Libertines are set to reunite.

I'm a bit biased because I love the man's music..but its hard to believe, not denying he got arrested..but I just can't imagine PETE of all people, getting a slap on the wrist and a fine for having heroin on an airplane...I mean, wouldn't someone on probation, heck even someone not on probation would surely have more to deal with than a fine at the end of the day..just saying, maybe something happened, but it doesn't necessarily have to be that.

This story doesnt say much for Airport Secruity. If a drug user can take a needle on a flight what can a terrorist get away with? As for the bit about a fine? Rubbish!!! If the allegations are that serious surely he'd still be locked up in a cell some place.

I think it is about time we stop judging those who are struggling against what is known to have a strong physiological basis. It is also known that there is a genetic predisposition and Pete is living in a culture which glamorizes drug taking. I'm not a fan but feel really sad for his struggles and concerned about his future, but even more than that worry about a society which condemns those in difficuty.
