Pete Doherty arrested in Gloucester

Babyshambles man's car is stopped after gig

Pete Doherty has been arrested in Gloucester in the early hours of this morning (June 11).

The Babyshambles frontman was taken into custody by police after he was seen driving erratically around the city. He was stopped roughly 30 minutes after finishing a solo performance at the Guildhall venue.

A spokesman said for the local police told the The Gloucester Citizen that drugs were also found in the possession of the 30-year-old man who was arrested.

"At approximately 12.30am officers on patrol in Eastgate Street saw a car being driven erratically, it continued down Barton Street and was stopped in Derby Road," the spokesperson said. "A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, possession of drugs and failure to stop for police, he remains in custody at this time."

God damm it Pete stop being a complete retard, I really love your music but you have to grow up your 30 now not 21 !!Saw him in Camden Town at the weekend and there was something about him that look a bit off, No doubt he is back on the drugs, You reallly reallly need to get rid of the hangers on that push you into these narcotics or you will end up dead or in prison !!

Can't write, can't play, can't sing. Talentless Pob faced no-mark twat. I'd rather tea-bag a meat grinder than listen to his music.Hopefully he'll be in custody until after Glastonbury so there's no chance of me seeing him there, although the chance of throwing a pint glass of piss at him would be most welcome.

sallmark you are a complete fuckwit. No ones interested in your throwaway comments. If you're not interested why did you take the time to write a anything? Dick.It is sadly a case of same old story here. Saw Pete play at the troxy at the end of march and he was on top form. In great health and one of the best times i've seen him. Including the libs. Lets hope that this isn't a stumble back into his old ways as these stories rarely have a happy ending.

If you don't want to see him at glastonbury then don't go to see him... And for some1 who can't write or sing he's achieved an awful lot don't you think? Love his work, but obviously he's a bit fucked up in the head and he always will be! Waste of talent unfortunately! I'll still be seeing him at Oxegen this summer though! Long live The Libertines!

a mans choice is his own consequences bind. a libertine in the true sense fo the word. not bound by any restraints be it moral or other. but of course hopefully not hurting the ones you love in the process. every man has his own path with its own scenery, and no matter how many think what's goin on is tragic and wastefully unnessesary, all i can say is how courageous it is to just live in accordance to your own principles and philosophies. the only thing that could be bothersome is the trust and hearts laying by the wayside as ones life is coursing in it's own true direction.

Personally i think on a musical front the bloke is a genius - Even if he is not your cup of tea, i think "Can't write, can't play, can't sing" is a ridulous comment. I have had the pleasure of spending time in his company on a few occasions and i think the bloke is a Legend and a true Gentleman. I think its all too easy for people who have never used drugs (me included) to just say 'he should stop doing them' - Drug abuse is an illness at worst or a serious weakness at best.

And Sallmark - I think going to Glastonbury to see people that you DONT like is an awful waste of £170+

I'm a massive fan but he's really starting to test my patience now. I can live with the drug taking but when he's recklessly endangering other by gettin behind the wheel of a car he's really taking it too far. Sort yourself out man!!

KidDynamite- It's 'courageous to live in accordance to your own principles and philosophies' is it? What if he'd have ran over some kid while drink driving? Is that what you'd tell their parents? I like Pete's music but I'm sick of him thinking he's above the law. I know's he's innocent until proven otherwise here, but he's got some track record hasn't he?!

Psycho_Mafia

what has this guy achieved? an awful lot?! behave! he's achieved bad skin and a lot of shit music! Not one good album, he thinks he's the shit but only because he takes adulation too seriously, he believes what people tell him, unfortunately not enough people tell him he’s a dickhead who needs to sort his life out!

haha. why whinge people? this has become routine now. is there a time when pete doherty isnt getting arrested?

I was there, he completely converted a non-fan with his performance last night... and I'll overlook the fact that he turned up two hours late. For anyone who hasn't been to Gloucester before, there's not much of any value there that he could have hit.

Pscho_Mafia - You are entitled to your opinion. But if your opinion is that "Up the Bracket" is not a good album, you are very very wrong.

Lord_Snooty

I don't know any of his songs. I swear nobody but his obsessed fans do. His press isn't proportional to what he's supposedly achieved as an artist. He's tabloid fodder and that's all. Musically he's not very important. And he's a vile, filthy junky. All these daft excuses made to pardon the fact he's a dirty junky make me ill. Driving erratically? What if he hits someone with his car? Someone needs to stop him now. The time has come.Make it happen.

sallmark: Everytime he gets in trouble for something there is always someone who comes on here, and starts calling him talentless etc, which he's not. I mean, yeah. He's got his problems with drugs, but so he's still a brilliant muscian, and your just some idiot leaving hateful comments no one cares about. Have you actually heard For Lovers? Probably you have, but still. Your an idiot for saying he's talentless.

Earl--Grey

Jun 12, 2009

seriously, this is getting ridiculous. i mean, i honestly thought he was over it - ha. a twelve year old boy pedestrian was killed in a car crash near my house recently and we don't need any more deaths. for fuck's sake peter, drink driving is fucking dangerous - i thought he'd care more about the implications. i'm fifteen and i know it's wrong - so why the fuck can't someone double my age pull himself together? he shouldn't waste his talent as he has brightened my life.

KidDynamite

to WolfamongWolves...if there's some kid out in the early morning hours in west london the poor uncared for little dodger should be plucked out of his misery anyways. be real you unsavory clunk.

Peter's a talented musician and as much as I think he needs a good hard shove in the right direction, bitching about him on NME is not the way to go. He's an incredibly talented musician who needs to be recognised for his musical achievments and not for whats in the papers. I really hope he doesn't get convicted for too long as I'm seeing him in concert in September!People need to realise that he has problems and they do not go away quickly.

WolfAmoungWolves

Jun 15, 2009

ha ha ha! I'm the unsavoury clunk am I?! So you're saying it's OK to drink-drive as long as it's at night when there's less likely to be kids around? And I didn't realise Gloucester was in West London so thanks for enlightening me.
