Pete Doherty to appear at Stroud Magistrates Court

He's been locked up by police until then

Pete Doherty is to appear in court tomorrow morning (June 12) for driving, drugs and drink offences.

The singer was arrested early this morning (June 11) after police in Gloucester spotted him driving erratically after his gig at the city’s Guildhall.

A spokesperson for Gloucester police told NME.COM that police are refusing to release Doherty until after he goes to Stroud Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

"He's been charged with dangerous driving, possession of Class A drugs, drink driving and driving without a valid license and insurance," the spokesperson explained. "He's been remanded in custody and he'll be appearing at Stroud Magistrates Court tomorrow morning."

Doherty is expected to attend the court at around 10am (BST).

The spokesperson added that he was allegedly caught with a small quantity of Class A drugs on him, adding, "It was quite a small amount [of drugs] that was on his possession."

As a result of Doherty's arrest, his scheduled gig at Derby Rockhouse tonight has now been cancelled.

once again Pete has let his fans down.I thought when i saw him at Proud galleries he had finally got himself clean, but again i was wrong. Perhaps a 6 month sentance will make him realise he is not above the law.I will not be paying good money to see him live anymore.

Not buying another Pete Doherty record ever. I have supported this guy through thick and thin. I had started telling people he had cleaned himself up. Am afraid I take it personally because people judge me personally for telling them that.

He's blown it. We need to stop giving him chances to f#ck things up. It's quite simple, you break the law, you go to jail. Learn from it and take care of yourself when you get out. Drugs are for mugs. Boozers are losers. Doherty is a talented mug. Hope he gets a proper sentence this time for his and his fans sake. sad......

I'm sure they'll let him off easy, seeing as it's his first offense and what not. Don't worry Pete it happens to the best of us, let this be a warning to you, it can only happen so many times before you get in serious trouble.

The mans a ledgend no one can write music the way he does at the moment, condemn him for his drug use if you will but don't forget john lennon was partial to a bit of the brown as was keith richards, no one seems that bothered about those two tho eh. The best musicians seem to write all their best stuff under the influence. People tell me I'm wrong . . . .fuck em. Go on Pete.
