Pete Doherty has failed to attend a scheduled court hearing over a charge of cocaine possession in London.

The Libertines and Babyshambles frontman was due at Thames Magistrates' Court along with his friends, musicians Alan Wass and Peter 'Wolfman' Wolfe, on Friday (January 14) for a committal hearing in the case, which relates to an investigation into the death of filmmaker Robin Whitehead on January 24 last year.

The singer's barrister Peter Ratliff said he did not realise he had to attend the hearing. District Judge Comyns said that Doherty would not be punished for the no-show, reports the Swindon Advertiser.

Doherty, Wass and Wolfe are now due to appear in court for a second committal hearing on February 2. They are expected to deny the charges.
