Pete Doherty is reportedly writing a hip-hop album, in a bid to become a British Eminem.

The Babyshambles singer has allegedly contacted The Streets' Mike Skinner to help him write the material, according to The Sun.

The Sun source said:

He has actually said he wants to be Britain's answer to Eminem. He has told us he's started writing hip hop songs

The report also revealed that Doherty has been buying new clothes to "re-invent" himself as a rap artist. Pals of the singer told the paper that he had bought two Adidas tracksuits.

Doherty will, purportedly, play the new material at his up-coming European shows. He is due to play Tivoli in Utrecht, Netherlands on April 11.

Meanwhile, the Babyshambles man has recently clamed to be "toning down a bit" and has stopped injecting drugs.

The singer also revealed that he had been receiving treatment at a walk-in clinic and was using Subutex – a pharmaceutical opiate – to help suppress his withdrawal symptoms.

He has recently confirmed that he has become a dad again, fathering South African Model Lindi Hingston's child. Aisling is his second offspring as he also has a child with Kill City singer Lisa Moorish.
