A painting by the late Amy Winehouse, which she made with Pete Doherty and is smeared with her blood, is to go on sale at auction this evening (May 11).

The painting, titled 'Ladylike', is not owned by Doherty but will be sold alongside several other of the former Libertines singer's paintings, as well as guitars, private diaries other possessions.

The auction follows a 10-day exhibition of Doherty's work, 'On Blood: A Portrait of the Artist', which took place at the Cob Gallery in London in February. Between 15 of the 20 blood paintings and prints exhibited were sold. The highest price fetched was for Salome, the blood and ink cover artwork for Doherty's 2009 solo album 'Grace/Wastelands', which went for £7,000.

A spokeswoman for the gallery told NME that the auction will consist of selected items from the 'On Blood' exhibitions and items that Doherty has collected over the years. Speaking of the extra items, she said:

"We had so much interest from fans during the exhibition. At the time of we weren't selling any of those things. But people really wanted to be able to purchase them. So we thought we'd do an auction and make it open to the public rather than price it."

Speaking of the Amy Winehouse painting, she added: "The 'Ladylike' painting was never intended to be sold through the exhibition. It was never intended for auction. It doesn't actually belong to Peter, it's being sold by a private seller."

The auction will kick off at 7pm. For more information, see the Cob Gallery website.
