Pete Doherty has gone to rehab in Thailand for heroin and crack cocaine addiction.

The singer, who has battled drug addiction throughout the last decade, told NME that he was planning on heading to rehab back in April. A statement on his official website reads:

Peter has left the building, well not quite, more the country, on his way to rehab in Thailand. He left Heathrow last night and will have arrived in Thailand this morning. We wish him well. He has plans to continue working on his new songs for the album which is eagerly awaited.

Doherty has been in and out of rehab over the years. After he his release from prison after burgling bandmate Carl Barat's flat in 2003, he went to a clinic in Thailand but left after three days.

In 2006, he was bailed and ordered to stay in a rehab clinic in Southgate, north London after pleading guilty to five counts of possessing drugs. In 2007, he checked into Clouds House rehab clinic in Wiltshire for six weeks, but later relapsed.

Earlier this week, tracks from the former Libertines man's upcoming second solo album were posted online, one of which featured Doherty rapping.

The track, 'Siberian Fur', was written by Peter 'Wolfman' Wolfe, with whom he collaborated on 2004's hit 'For Lovers'. It will be familiar to fans as Doherty often brings it out at solo sets. The track features a rap and has a hip-hop feel with added basslines, which he explained to NME were string samples from "old silent movies".

The second track, 'Down For The Outing', is a brand new number, although versions of it have been online for a while. The two tracks were posted on the blog of London producer Adem Himli, who has been recording the album at his studio in west London. You can listen below:
