Peter Andre surprised fans at the V Festival in Staffordshire this afternoon (August 21) when he played a set in the Nissan Juke Arena.

The singer's performance came as Shaun Ryder suffered the wrath of Andre fans at the Chelmsford site after confusion over the billing.

Many fans turned up at the stage expecting to see Andre after spotting a "TBC" in the stage's line-up.

Their confusion wasn't helped as an advert for Andre's tour was shown on the big screens moments before Ryder took the stage. But he was in fact performing in the same tent in Staffordshire, with many fans singing along to his 1996 hit 'Mysterious Girl'.

Earlier Pixie Lott kicked off the day on the V Stage, her set including the singles 'Boys And Girls' and 'Gravity'.

NME is coming live from both V Festival sites this weekend. Head to NME.COM/festivals for full coverage. Plus make sure you buy next week’s issue of NME to get the definitive review of V Festival, either on UK newstands from August 25 or available digitally worldwide.
