Elton John lines up for Diana memorial concert

Pharrell Williams and Bryan Ferry will also play

Pharrell Williams, Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry, Duran Duran and Elton John have all been confirmed to play a commemorative concert to mark the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death.

They will join a host of stars, including singer Joss Stone and Andrew Lloyd Webber, for the special show to be staged at the new Wembley Stadium on July 1 2007.

More acts will be announced for the concert in the coming weeks, which is being curated by Diana's sons, Princes William and Harry.

Speaking about the gig, Sir Elton John said: "I applaud Princes William and Harry for choosing to honour their mother with this concert. I am absolutely thrilled to be performing at this great event.

"Diana was a personal friend and someone I greatly admired for her tireless and enthusiastic work for charity."

All proceeds from the gig will go to a host of charities the Princess supported during her life, and to two of the Princes' own charities, Centrepoint and Sentebale, reports BBC News.

Tickets for the gig go on sale at 9am tomorrow (Wednesday). For more information go to Concertfordiana.com.
