New claims allege the producer said 'all women deserve to die'

Phil Spector's trial took another twist yesterday (April 4) after new allegations emerged that the producer made threats to other women.

Spector, who is accused of shooting and killing actress Lana Clarkson at his LA mansion in 2003, is alleged to have said "all women deserve to die" to American talk show host Joan Rivers' at a Christmas party in 1995, a court heard.

He is alleged to have made the remarks to ex-policeman Vincent Tannazzo, according to documents filed to Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson.

"They (women) all deserve to die. They all deserve a bullet in their fucking head," Tannazzo quoted Spector as saying. "That's why I got permits for all over. Wherever I go, I always keep a gun because they're all no fucking good."

Prosecutors are also pressing for a testimony from one of Spector's ex-girlfriends, Devra Robitaille, who claimed he put a gun to her head when she tried to leave his home in the ‘70s, reports The Daily Mirror.

"Spector, who was drunk, made some sort of joke and then said, 'Just so you know, I'll blow your head off' or 'If you try to leave, I'll blow your brains out'," she said, according to court documents.

She claimed a similar thing happened a decade later when Spector again put a gun to her head after a night of drinking.

A hearing to consider the prosecution's request has been scheduled for April 10.

Earlier, a judge ruled that four other women can also testify that the legendary producer threatened them with guns between 1988 and 1995.

Prosecutors argued the incidents showed the death of Ms Clarkson at Spector's home fitted "a recurring, common plan used to intimidate women into staying with him".

The producer has pleaded not guilty and is currently free on £513,000 ($1 million) bail.
