The music producer will not testify
Music producer Phil Spector will not take to the stand to defend himself against the charge of murder.
The defence tentatively rested its case today (August 21), minus a testimony from Spector, and Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler asked Spector if he agreed to waive his right to testify.
Spector simply answered quietly “Yes”.
The defence have rested their case while records are reviewed and exhibits are displayed, but may resume their case with further witnesses at a later date. However, testimony is expected to be completed by the end of this week.
Spector is on trial for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson, who died of a single shot to the head in February 2003 at the star’s mansion just outside Los Angeles. The defence are saying she shot herself.
