Phil Spector will be retried for murder

Music legend wants yet another new defence team for trial

Phil Spector will be retried for murder, it was confirmed today.

At a hearing in Los Angeles, Prosecutor Alan Jackson said that Spector will be retried by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, although a date has not been set for the trial.

Meanwhile, Spector has sought a new legal team for the retrial, according to a member of his defence team.

Christopher Plourd told the court that Spector is looking for a new lawyer, says the Associated Press. The new team will be the fouth to defend Spector in court. During his first trial, Spector went through three legal teams – he fired the first, while the second resigned.

The trial ended in a mistrial last month after the jury deadlocked
10-to-2. The majority of the jury were in favour of a guilty verdict.

During the retrial Spector will once again be tried for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson, who was shot dead in his Alhambra, CA mansion in February 2003.
