New witness comes forward in Phil Spector re-trial

Prosecutors in Phil Spector's murder trial have discovered a sixth woman who wants to testify that the famed producer threatened to kill her.

Spector's murder trial ended in a mistrial last year after jurors failed to reach a unanimous verdict in his murder charges in the death of actress Lana Clarkson.

Attorneys are now gearing up for a re-trial, and Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Alan Jackson said that the new witness, Norma Kemper, was discovered in January 2008.

Kemper reportedly gave investigators an account with the same locations Spector visited the night of Clarkson's death, reports the Associated Press.

Kemper, who was hired as Spector's assistant in 1996, claims that he took her to dinner at Dan Tana's, the Los Angeles restaurant he visited the night of Clarkson's death.

She claims that Spector became drunk and made romantic advances toward her. When she turned him down, he allegedly showed her a holstered gun under his jacket and said, "You know I could kill you right now."

Spector's defence attorneys say they intend to oppose the use of Kemper's testimony in the re-trial, along with those of five other women who testified in Spector's original murder trial.
