PINK FLOYD TO REFORM
Roger Waters returns to the fold for Live 8...
PINK FLOYD are set to reunite for the forthcoming LIVE 8 concerts.
Following rumours which originated last year that the prog rockers were considering putting their differences aside and playing together, there has been mounting speculation that Pink Floyd would take to the stage again this year, the 30th anniversary of their 1975 album ‘Wish You Were Here’.
This will now happen at Live 8, with bassist Roger Waters joining old band mates Dave Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright for the first time in almost 20 years, BBC News reports.
Waters left the band in the early 80s and then tried to sue Pink Floyd in 1986, however relations have since thawed.
When Waters played the 2002 Glastonbury Festival he told the official programme that a reunion was on the cards.
“He (Nick Mason) and I have rekindled our friendship to some extent,” he explained, “so it’s (a reunion) possible. It might be a laugh.”
Pink Floyd will play the London leg of Live 8 in Hyde Park on July 2.
Today (June 12) is the last day to enter the compeition for tickets. To be in with a chance you must text 84599 with the answer to the following question:
Which city is nearest to the G8 summit in July? A) Berlin, B) Moscow, C) Edinburgh.
Lines close at midnight. All the correct entries will then be entered in a lottery and pairs of tickets will be allocated from tomorrow (June 13).
