Pink Floyd star to release live multi-disc album

'David Gilmour Live In Gdansk' is due out in September

Pink Floyd's singer/guitarist David Gilmour has announced that he will release a live multi-disc album and concert DVD from his 2006 performance in Gdansk, Poland.

‘David Gilmour Live In Gdansk’ is due out September 16 via Columbia Records in the US. It is Gilmour's first live solo album and features the first-ever recording of select Pink Floyd songs performed with an orchestra.

The August 26 concert marked the 26th anniversary of the founding of Trade Union Solidarity in Poland.

"This was the first time I played in Poland and it was a thrill to be there helping to mark one of the most important anniversaries in recent European history," Gilmour said in a statement.

"It was particularly exciting to have my friend Zbigniew Preisner there conducting the Baltic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and to be able to perform my album for the first time as it was intended.”
