Its comforting to realize that the Brits are suffering through the same crappy and barren musical landscape that the US is dealing with right now.

Lets count album sales when oasis and pink albums come out - both charts reflect the lack of current rock music cutting through to the mainstream - 3 out of the 20 are rock acts - 2 being kings of leon - mothers have bought the albums at 3 and 4 the less said about the rest probably for the best

I can see KOL beating Oasis, but Pink? Shame on you Britain.

Ha ha, what shame. Just goes to show that fan base alone cant win through. I do like Oasis but this latest release is not as good as their glory days, Pinks song is catchy and caters for the masses and ther KOL song is fantastic and miles better than Oasis.

Ha! Pink atop of Oasis and KOL. British culture is no different than over here in the US as to pop diddys dominating mainstream. What a joke to see PInk atop of the charts. In America that sort of nonsense is expected but in the U.K. I would expect the masses to recognize quality and substance over teeny bop dog shit. Small world after all! I fail to believe NME has yet to recognize Travis- Ode to J.smith record as they seem to have rediscovered their swagger. Go figure!

Apparantly Oasis sold around 80,000 copies of their single to people at the same time as they were buying tickets for their UK tour. Unfortunately, and stupidly these pre-sales don't count in the final chart positions.

Why do people think Oasis are more credible than Pink just because they play guitars? Oasis are a joke that should have been over in the 90s.

Oh dear. Crapshitepopmoaner Pink has beaten dadrockdullards Oasis and their single "Shit Of The Lightweight" to No.1. Am I right in thinking that I've just ejaculated with grief, or is it merely sarcasm running down the front of my jeans?

Pink's single was more than likely bought into the charts by her record label to help gain exposure. Most pop acts do it, even the first few Beatles records!

It just goes to show how bad the British Charts are with manufactured pop rubbish beating one of the greatest rock and roll bands in history. Still the album chart is what matters, and as 14-year-old school kids don't have enough pocket money to buy Pink's album, Oasis should triumph.

McNasty hit the nail on the head to start, the charts are fucked these days. I liked Shock of the Lightning and think its a much better track than Pink's, which to be honest i dont even know the fucking name of. Its the same the world over, cheesy pop and sappy sickly R & B are winning in the States and starting to over here, and although im not the worlds biggest Oasis nut, id much prefer a real band with some actual talent to head the charts. Atleast the Kings still rule the album chart this week. so it aint completely to pot.

Well done Pink, she must have sold like a good few hundred singles to reach the heady heights of number one! And Oasis, one of the best rock and roll bands in history? That's hilarious lol, you're worse than the Pink fans, because at least most of them probably don't claim to be a "true music fan" lol

Oasis are basically poo. Pink is not quite that good, though.

sales don't really mean nothing these days. best selling albums and often not the best albums. so either way, even if it's oasis topping pink on the charts, i'd still say "so what!".amen to McNasty's comment. ppl really have to open their ears. there are so many interesting stuff outside Britain and the US.

'14-year-old school kids don't have enough pocket money to buy Pink's album'. Her last album was the 9th biggest seller of 2006, selling in excess of 1 million copies so I don't think it's just that age bracket buying her music. Oasis will probably sell more than her this time round though.

I'm sure Noel Gallagher would say the same - a number one single means fuck all! Who cares about the stupid charts - Pink is just music like you would hear in a clothes shop - absolute crap!

Oh....shocking...people are slagging off Oasis once again. How original. How about you go and listen to your Bloc Party CDs and leave Oasis alone.

Its a shame its always nice, if not expected to see the best band at number 1. Its down to early radio plays and the cyber web that it did'nt make it. The album will number one next week, its no big deal.

Does no one want to dance to rock and roll these days? Pink is awful!!!! It's sad to see the UK charts being poisned by all that manufactured American poppy garbage. Loving the new Oasis single! Can't wait to get the album.
