Singer will follow last month's Grammys appearance with Oscar slot

Pink has revealed she's going to perform at the Academy Awards on March 2.

She broke the news on her Twitter account, saying: "Big news!!! I'd like to thank @TheAcademy for inviting me to perform on the #Oscars on March 2nd!! #holycow"



During her Grammys performance, Pink's acrobatic routine saw her suspended upside down from the ceiling. It's unlikely her performance at the Oscars will be as daring. It was also revealed this week that Bette Midler will be giving her debut performance at the Academy Awards, with producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron saying: "We are thrilled to have Bette perform on the Oscars for the very first time. We believe she will make our Oscar telecast an especially moving evening."

All tracks nominated for the Best Original Song Oscar – Karen O's 'The Moon Song' (from 'Her'), U2's 'Ordinary Love' (from 'Mandela'), 'Happy' by [a]Pharrell Williams (from 'Despicable Me 2') and Idina Menzel's 'Let It Go' (from 'Frozen') – will be performed on the night too. The 2014 awards ceremony, the 86th Oscars, will be held on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, with Ellen DeGeneres hosting.

Pink - real name Alecia Beth Moore - released her debut single 'There You Go' in 2000, while her second album, 'Missundaztood', was released a year later and went on to sell 12 million copies. Her six albums to date have sold a combined 50 million copies.
