PIXIES JOIN LOLLAPALOOZA BILL

The comeback kings' tour just gets bigger and bigger...

PIXIES JOIN LOLLAPALOOZA BILL

Pixies will join the LOLLAPALOOZA bill this summer.

Guitarist Joey Santiago made the announcement for the band during a backstage press conference at the Coachella festival over the weekend.

"We're going to be playing Lollapallooza at the Ventura County Fair Grounds Friday the 24th of July and New York on the 17th Randall’s Island. Be there," he said.

The band have also extended their fall tour across the US, adding headline dates in nine cities including Miami, Washington DC and Sacramento.

Pixies said they have been practicing 40 songs to choose from for their live set. Singer Frank Black told reporters they reunited in Los Angeles, where they tuned up the old material.

He said: "We actually got together for the first time at Breeders rehearsal space, in an industrial section, south of Los Angeles. I can't say exactly where. We had tacos."

Black said the band had no immediate plans to go into the studio, but have one as yet unnamed, "secret" new song.

The new Pixies dates are:
Ventura County Fairgrounds (July 23) (Lollapalooza)
New York Randall’s Island (August 17) (Lollapalooza)
Vancouver Plaza of Nations (September 7)
Sacramento Sleep Train (26)
Lincoln Pershing Auditorium (October 2)
Cedar Rapids Cellular Centre (4)
Columbia Hearnes Centre (5)
Miami Mizner Amphitheatre (9)
Orlando Hard Rock Café (10)
Milwaukee Auditorium (November 9)
Washington DC Constitution Hall (December 6)
