Pixies man scores music for Nike
Joey Santiago provides soundtrack to soccer documentary
Former Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago has provided music for a Nike-sponsored documentary on soccer.
‘Nike Presents: Blood, Sweat and Tears: Football in the Rough’ was scored by Santiago, whose previous work in this vein includes score work for TV shows ‘Weeds’ and ‘Undeclared’.
“This film is about guts and determination and Joey's work definitely helps surface both of these qualities" a rep told Pitchfork, while another says that his “sonic guitar riffs and his moody harmonies were perfect for the pace we needed in the film.”
The documentary will appear on nikefootball.com this month.
