Placebo's Brian Molko faints onstage in Japan – video

Band were playing at the Summer Sonic festival

Placebo's Brian Molko fainted onstage at the Summer Sonic festival in Osaka Japan on Sunday (August 9).

The band's show was cut short when the frontman passed out and was carried off by stage staff, with the band later explaining that he had been suffering from a virus, which contributed to the incident occurring.

Watch fan footage of the event by clicking on the video below.

"Brian picked up a virus, which coupled with jet lag and exhaustion caused his collapse onstage," the band said in a statement posted on their website, Placeboworld.co.uk. "Thanks to prompt and professional care Brian is recovering well."

They went on to apologise to fans: "We would like to extend our grateful thanks and sincere apologies to the fans who made a huge effort travelling to see us in Osaka, especially after long queues in the heavy rain."

Placebo are set to play at the Reading And Leeds Festivals, which take place on August 28-30.

It greatly concerns me that this video has been posted here. It's pretty sick. You wouldn't post a video of Michael Jackson fainting NME, so why a video of Molko? This isn't a gossip tabloid supposedly.
