Plan B: 'Anyone who cares about human beings should see 'iLL Manors'' – video
Film's stars speak as the gritty drama is premiered in London
The film, which stars Riz Ahmed, Nathalie Press and Dannielle Brent, is a semi-autobiographical tale focusing on six characters struggling against crime and violence in Forest Gate in London. It premiered in the capital last night (May 30).
Speaking to NME in a video which you can see by scrolling up to the top of the page and clicking, Plan B (real name Ben Drew), responded to a question about why people should see his film by saying: "Anyone with a heart and anyone who cares about human beings and how we treat each and anyone who thinks we need to treat each other better."
The film's leading man Riz Ahmed spoke about working with Drew on the movie, which he labeled "something special". He said: "It's a unique film and I don't say that lightly. He's definitely going to make loads more movies. The first time I met him, I thought he was a director stuck in a rapper's body, but it seems he can do both."
iLL Manors is scheduled for release into cinemas on June 4, with the soundtrack set to follow on July 16. Plan B will play a tour of the UK forests this July, playing a total of seven shows.
