Plan B tops UK Albums Chart with 'iLL Manors'

Plan B has had an champion weekend as the East London rapper's 'iLL Manors' enters the UK Album Chart at Number 1.

'iLL Manors', the follow up to 2010's multi-platinum album 'The Defamation Of Strickland Banks', outsold nearest rival The Gaslight Anthem's 'Handwritten (Number 2) to give Plan B his second UK Number 1 Album, reports the Official Charts Company.

Maroon 5's 'Overexposed' slides one place to Number 3, while Jennifer Lopez’s new Greatest Hits collection, titled 'Dance Again', debuts at Number 4. Rihanna's latest album, 'Talk That Talk' (5), completes this week's Top 5. US metal band Slipknot's Best Of collection 'Antennas To Hell' is new in at Number 22, while Joss Stone's 'The Soul Sessions Vol 2' debuts in at Number 6.

This week's highest climber is Arctic Monkeys' debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not', which has climbed 89 places from 158 to 69 following their performance at the London Olympic opening ceremony on Friday (July 27).

In the Official UK Singles Chart, Florence And The Machine hold on to the top sport for a third week in a row with 'Spectrum'. Maroon 5 continue to hold firm at Number 2 with 'Payphone', while London girl group Stooshe climb two places to Number 3 with 'Blackheart'.

Brighton's own Justin Bieber, Conor Maynard, scores his second Top 10 single with 'Vegas Girl', which debuts at Number 4 today, while Flo Rida completes this week's Top 5 with 'Whistle' (5).

The Olympic opening ceremony effect is clear in the UK Singles Chart as all acts who featured in the stunning show have seen a marked increase in sales with Arctic Monkeys, Underworld and Emeli Sande leading the charge with two tracks each entering the charts.
