Plan B won the British Male Solo Artist prize at the Brit Awards 2011 tonight (February 15).

The rapper – real name Ben Drew – picked up the gong at the London O2 Arena ceremony from Dizzee Rascal before thanking his management, PR company, friends and family from the stage.

He later performed a medley of hits at the show, including 'She Said' and 'Prayin''.

Later on the show, Laura Marling walked away with the British Female Solo Artist prize, which was presented by Boy George.

Clearly shocked to beat off competition from the likes of Cheryl Cole and Ellie Goulding, the singer-songwriter said it was a weird feeling to win the award, telling the crowd: "Thank you, my name's Laura and there you go mum, that's for you."

The other British Male Solo Artist nominees were:

Mark Ronson
Paul Weller
Robert Plant
Tinie Tempah
