Plan B has revealed he had a difficult time on set when he started working on his first film iLL Manors - see below for the trailer.

The film, which stars Riz Ahmed, Nathalie Press and Dannielle Brent, is a semi-autobiographical tale focusing on six characters struggling amid crime and violence in Forest Gate in London.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, the rapper said: "When I started, the crew were mostly like, 'What the fuck is this pop star doing making a film?'" He added:

I had told them beforehand that I'd never done a film before and made that clear and they all said, 'Oh we'll look after you, we're here to help.' And then the first day of the shoot I got that [attitude]. There wasn't really a good vibe on set.

He said he imagined a "guerrilla film" where the he could "just go out and jump out and nick shit (with the camera) when we see it…But my director of photographer was very cautious and careful. Fair play to him but that's not the way I wanted to do it."

'iLL Manors' is scheduled for release on June 6. The accompanying soundtrack, which features Plan B's recent single of the same name, will be released on June 25.

Speaking to NME previously about the film, he said: "I was inexperienced and didn't have a lot of money, and I guess some people didn't like the fact I was making a film. I never went to film school, I didn't know the technical terms for films, so there was a lot of prejudice towards me."

He added: "But then there was some people that really believed in my vision and gave me all the support I needed.
