Bret Michaels injured while performing at awards ceremony

Poison frontman Bret Michaels was injured while performing at the Tony Awards last night (June 7), after a set prop hit him on the head.

The singer was onstage during the opening part of the ceremony, which featured tracks from the Broadway musical 'Rock Of Ages', and was knocked to the ground by a descending set piece as he finished his performance.

Tonys spokeswoman Christina Stejskal told the Associated Press that Michaels "missed his mark" as he left the stage.

It is not yet known what injury the singer suffered, but he apparently did not break his nose.

Meanwhile, Elton John was the overall victor of last night's event, as 'Billy Elliot', the musical he wrote the score for, won a total of 10 awards.
