Geoff Barrow's new band announce tour dates and ticket details
Beak>, the latest musical project from Portishead's Geoff Barrow, have announced plans to tour the UK this December as well as playing an instore show at Rough Trade East in London on November 4.

As well as Barrow, Beak> is completed by Billy Fuller and Matt Williams, who were both signed to Barrow's Invada Records as part of different acts.

They started the new band at the beginning of this year, following a jam session at the Invada Records Christmas party a year previously.

Speaking to NME.COM, Barrow, who produced The Horrors' last album 'Primary Colours', said Beak>'s music is "regressive" and inspired by acts like Can, The Plastic People Of The Universe, The Beach Boys, and Tim Rice musicals from the 1970s.

As part of the tour, Beak> will be playing ATP, the festival which Barrow curated with Portishead in 2007.

"It seems like a perfect place for like-minded individuals to hear it," said Barrow of the show.

He added that the live show will be "miserable. There ain't gonna be any lasers! It will most probably be really, really basic musicianship."

When asked how his involvement in Beak> will affect his relationship with Portishead, Barrow explained: "I think it helps it along, any creative thing that moves forward for any of us is a positive thing... This is one of those processes that can only benefit the band, really; or benefit me within my writing capacity within the band."

Barrow also revealed that he'd played Beak> to his Portishead bandmate, Beth Gibbons, who offered a muted reaction. "I played it to Beth and she said, 'Oh, I thought it was going to be better than this'."

Beak> will play:

London Rough Trade Instore (November 4)
London Relentless Garage (December 11)
Glasgow King Tuts (14)
Nottingham Stealth (15)
Birmingham Capsule (16)
Manchester Deaf Institute (17)
