Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie is recovering after being beaten up in a bar in Madrid on July 14.

Although the exact details are not known, it is believed that Gillespie was attacked in a hotel bar after playing a concert in the city.

Gillespie’s manager Rab Andrew said that although Primal Scream performed in Barcelona on the Saturday (July 15), he did not know the full extent of his injuries.

He said: “He’s fine, back home and sporting a couple of black eyes.”

According to Andrew the band were late for a Sunday (July 16) recording of 'Top Of The Pops' as doctors advised him not to fly back to London until Sunday afternoon.

The band are due to release new single ’Dolls’ next month.
