Primal Scream have been confirmed to play the New Year’s Eve Hogmanay concert in Edinburgh at the end of this year.

The Scottish band will play their 1991 album 'Screamadelica' in full for the last time at the December 31 show and will also play a host of their greatest hits during the performance.

Tickets for the Concert In The Gardens event will go on sale on September 1. A number of other acts will also be performing. Further details of other bands on the bill will be revealed in November, reports BBC News.

The show will also mark the end of the year long celebrations of the 20th anniversary of 'Screamadelica', which was reissued earlier this year. You can watch Bobby Gillespie talking about playing the album live by clicking on the video at the bottom of the page.

Of the Hogmany show, Primal Scream frontman Gillespie said: "It will be a brilliant end to the best year we have ever had."

Edinburgh's Hogmanay director, Pete Irvine, added: "Primals were the major success story of this year's festivals and we're deeply chuffed to have the final 20th anniversary performance of 'Screamadelica', voted the most popular Scottish album of all time."
