Primal Scream have revealed that the lead single from their new album 'More Light' - released on May 13 – will be 'It's Alright, It's OK'.
Written by Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes, the track follows the first taste of the album, '2013', and was produced by David Holmes. Scroll down to listen to a live version of the song, performed last December in Brisbane, Australia.
'More Light' is the follow-up to 2008's 'Beautiful Future'. It was recorded at Das Bunker in London and Vox Studios in Los Angeles and mixed by Rich Costey at Eldorado Recording Studios, also in LA. It will be released on the band's own First International label through Ignition Records.
The album sleeve has been designed by 2005 Turner Prize nominee Jim Lambie.
Speaking about the album, Gillespie said: "It's a rock 'n' roll record, but modern rock 'n' roll. Pretty psychedelic rock, it's kind of guitar-driven but we use guitars in an orchestral way, not in the normal way people make rock records. I think we do it in a more interesting way. We weave the guitars in with electronics and other acoustic instruments to make the core sound."
Mark Stewart of The Pop Group and Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant will appear on the record
Primal Scream and Echo And The Bunnymen will play a Teenage Cancer Trust gig at London's Royal Albert Hall on March 21.
Primal Scream are also headlining this summer's Wickerman Festival in East Kirkcarswell, near Dundrennan, Scotland and Kendal Calling in the Lake District.
