Prince covers Presley, Hendrix in LA

The Purple One delivers three shows in one night

Prince covers Presley, Hendrix in LA

Prince performed three consecutive shows in Los Angeles on Saturday night (March 28) to celebrate the release of his two new albums, 'MPLSoUND' and 'LOtUSFLOW3R', the followinig day.

In his usual eccentric fashion, the Purple One delivered marathon sets at Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE, Conga Room and Club Nokia, extending his final set far beyond the downtown venue's 2:00 am curfew.

Dressed stylishly in black and white, Prince played several of his classic tunes throughout the night, including '1999' and 'Kiss'. Backed by a full band, he also delivered covers of Elvis Presley's 'All Shook Up' and Jimi Hendrix's 'Spanish Castle Magic' as well as a handful of new tracks.

Prince battled sound troubles at the Nokia Theatre, and joked to the audience that if the sound were better he'd play for free, but since it's not he had to charge his usual three million.

He was joined on stage by his 1980s protégé Sheila E during his first set, reports the Los Angeles Times, and Chaka Khan made a guest appearance during his final performance, playing her song 'Sweet Thing'.
