Prince performs alongside Kendrick Lamar to mark double album release

Duo performed the Prince rarity 'What's My Name'

Kendrick Lamar made a surprise appearance alongside Prince last night (September 30) at a launch party to mark the release of The Purple One’s two new albums, ‘Art Official Age’ and ‘PlectrumElectrum’.

Pitchfork reports that the duo performed ‘What’s My Name’, a little-known track taken from Prince’s 1998 rarities compilation ‘Crystal Ball’. The set was broadcast as a Yahoo Livestream Special and is currently available to view online.

‘Art Official Age’ is Prince’s 34th LP, while ‘Plectrum Electrum’ is the first release from his new band, 3rd Eye Girl. Both were released on Monday (September 29).

Also organised last night was a special fan Q&A session via Prince’s newly launched Facebook page. But despite nearly 4,000 responses, the artist only responded to a single question, which asked about sound frequencies.

The question, posted by Facebook user Dee J FoGee read, “Truth.: Greetings my dear Brother… Please address the importance of all music being tuned to 432hz sound frequencies??? Thanks in advance!!! Warmest regards, Emanuel…”.

Prince replied with an article entitled ‘Here’s Why You Should Convert Your Music to 432hz’.
