Professor Green has defended X Factor boss Simon Cowell by describing the talent show mogul as "wicked".

The latest series of the reality TV behemoth is now underway and back on screens and, according to Green, the people who criticise the show's creator are "obvious and boring".

Speaking to Q magazine, the rapper said:

I don't actually dislike Simon Cowell at all, I think he's wicked. He's smart, he's on the ball, he's fair. So yeah, I like him, for what we know of him.

Green – who appeared on the last series to sing 'Read All About It' with Emeli Sande – added: "Everyone wants to hate him, it's so obvious and boring. He went bankrupt, he had a hit with Zig and Zag, look at him now, he's a genius.''

Green, who released his last studio album 'At Your Inconvenience' last year, is known for his scathing public attacks on other notable figures and controversial comments. He sparked fury earlier this year when he described Hollywood actress Kristen Stewart as a "cheating slutbag" and referred to bulimia as an "intelligent eating disorder", but came to Cher Lloyd's defence last month (August 21) when she was pelted with a bottle of urine at V Festival.
