Psy's YouTube channel has now racked up over three billion views.

The K-pop star is only the third artist to pass the three billion mark after Rihanna and Justin Bieber, Billboard reports. Some 1.7 billion of Psy's views come from his high-octane 'Gangnam Style' video, which became the first video to hit one billion views on YouTube last December (2012).

Psy's follow-up video, 'Gentleman', premiered on YouTube on April 13 and has since racked up nearly half a million views of its own. However, not everyone is a fan of the ubiquitous K-pop star, whose real name is Park Jae-sang. Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day has recently branded him "the herpes of music", an insult Psy took in good grace.

"I kinda like it, it's cool," Psy said in response. "So he's saying I'm like herpes? I should say something to him. What was his name? Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day, he's saying I'm like herpes, it keeps coming back. I think it's really cool and I appreciate that. Thank you," Psy said in response.

Meanwhile, Psy revealed last month (June) that he was due to meet Queen guitarist Brian May for brunch - and hinted that the pair could be planning a collaboration.
