A hiphop medly, satellite appearances, live slots from old favourites and new acts - they all want their MTV even after all this time...

P DIDDY, Run DMC, SALT 'N' PEPA and NAUGHTY BY NATURE performed a Hiphop medley a the MTV 20th birthday celebrations in NEW YORK yesterday (August 1), as part of a celebrity studded show which included performances from TLC, JANE'S ADDICTION and AEROSMITH.

Other acts which took the stage included Tommy Lee and Rob Halford's Sum 41, Billy Idol, Ja Rule, Mary J Blige and Kid Rock.

The event was supposed to be headlined by Mariah Carey, but she had to pull out after suffering a reported breakdown last week. Janet Jackson, Blink 182 and Depeche Mode appeared via satellite.

Highlights have been posted on MTV.COM, along with broadcast details of when the three-hour extravaganza is to be repeated.
