This summer's Rough Beats Festival has been cancelled.

The festival was due to take place between June 8 - 10 in Clapham, Yorkshire and was due to be headlined by Pulled Apart By Horses, Gruff Rhys and Azealia Banks, although Banks has recently withdrawn from the bill.

The festival's organisers have posted a statement, which cites "financial pressures" and a "difficult environment for festivals" as their reason for the cancellation. They have also promised to refund all tickets.

The statement reads: "It is with a very heavy heart that we write to you to announce that, due to financial pressures, we have no responsible option but to cancel Rough Beats Festival 2012.

It continues: "This is a huge personal blow and incredibly disappointing as we truly believed that the brilliant line-up, the amazing collaborators and the physical and financial investment made by everyone involved was a winning formula and that we were on course to produce one of the most talked about music events of the summer. However, it is proving to be a very difficult environment for festivals."

It continues further: "The decision to cancel has not been made lightly - indeed it goes against every instinct of our hearts - but not to do so would put all the contractors, contributors, artists, traders and suppliers at risk of substantial losses."

Rough Beats Festival is the latest major event to be shelved in a summer which has already seen Sonisphere, LadyRock and Harvest festival cancel due to poor ticket sales.
