Following the rerelease of 'Disco 2000' for the new year, JARVIS COCKER has written a new piece of music for a 'Millennium Thoughts' album, distributed by the Jubilee 2000 Coalition which is campaigning to cancel all Third World debt.
The Pulp frontman has written a song titled 'Thinking About The Millennium Just Makes Me Wanna Come' which will appear alongside contributions from Tory leader William Hague, cricket umpire Dicky Bird, Billy Bragg, boxer Prince Naseem and Coronation Street actor William Roache aka Ken Barlow.
For every copy of this bizarre compilation CD sold, #1 will be donated towards the 'Drop The Debt' campaign. The CD will be released at the end of the month through Chrome Dreams.
Jarvis' contribution is the first new material he's recorded since working on the All Seeing I's 'Pickled Eggs & Sherbert' album earlier this year.
A spokesman for Pulp told NME that most of Pulp's new album - the follow up to 1998's 'This Is Hardcore' - had been written and that the band were looking to release it next year.
